DCL 1.4 Meditation | Living as Children of God
A message by John Ortberg.
As Abba’s child you have a new identity, an unimaginable potential, and you are called to a total devotion to purity…
(Try and make space to listen to this session in one sitting.)
ASSESSMENT AND APPLICATION
Read 1 John 2:28 – 3:9
Take a few moments to reflect on what it means for you to be Abba’s child. Write down your thoughts.
John shared three truths connected to this:
- You have a new identity rooted in the fact that you are Abba’s child, from which confidence and assurance come. How do you think of yourself – a sinner or a saint?
- You have unimaginable potential for what you will be has not yet been revealed. What are you doing to realise every ounce of that potential?
- Your devotion to purity will identify you as Abba’s child. Have you declared war on sin in your life, out of a motive of hope?
In having thought about your response to the three questions above take time to pray to your heavenly Abba. Talk to Him as one of His children, because that is what you are. Tell Him what is on your heart.
“Abba, Father, let me be yours and yours alone.”
