1.  Personal Reflection: Take seven or eight minutes to think about the following two questions. Use the space provided below to write out your thoughts or feelings, or take some time to pray silently.

  • Who or what feels “cheated” by you, and what do you need to do about it?

 

  • Andy talked about how, as leaders, we often are driven by fear. Use the space provided below to write down what in your life would fill the blanks in the following statement: “If I don’t _______________________, _____________________ won’t happen.” Write as much or as little as you are led, but try to dig deeply to find what your foundational fears really are and name them.

 

2.  Given what you have thought, prayed and/or written about over the last several minutes, what action steps do you need to take? Write your action steps below and then discuss your answers with your team (if you feel comfortable doing so).

 

3.  Andy’s personal decision to “cheat” the church has influenced North Point as an organisation by helping create a culture of sustainability and focused ministry. As a group, discuss what the culture of your church or ministry looks like with regard to two specific areas:

  • Is the pace of ministry life for your staff and volunteers sustainable and healthy? If so, great! Congratulate yourselves and discuss why. If not, why not? Discuss together and write your thoughts and ideas on the flipchart.

 

  • After listing your ideas as to what’s causing this problem, decide as a group which one or two are most urgent and circle them.

 

  • Take some time to brainstorm as a team about some possible solutions. Record your ideas on the flipchart.

 

4.  Given your answers to the previous questions, what one or two action steps does your church or ministry team need to take? Discuss as a team and then record the action steps in the chart below.
